Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall!

Friday, October 3, 2014
Ah, my favorite season is approaching and I couldn't be more excited! Fall fashion and the breezy weather is always a nice change after the 100 degree southern summer heat. It's not exactly fall (yet) because down south, it's cooler in the mornings and tends to get around 75-80 degrees towards the afternoons. There are certain go-to outfits I love when the weather is in between seasons. I love layering and being able to remove pieces as needed to adjust to the bipolar weather.

Transition your wardrobe with a few, easy tricks
1. Swap out your gladiators and strappy sandals for black of brown ankle booties, boots, or (my fave) classic white converses. Changing your footwear alone says a lot about the season of your outfit.
2. Wear neutral toned polish. Trade out your bright summer nail polish for earthy colors like taupe, olive, burgundy or black.
3. Stack up the accessories. Add a watch, metal bangles, cuffs, rings or even a felt hat.
4. Makeup. Many of us wear little to no makeup during the summer to avoid it melting off your face and clogging those pores but its time to add a wine-colored lip (Personally, I love Mac's Heroine lipstick + Mac's Nightmoth lip liner).
5. Leather. Wearing a leather jacket or leather leggings will add a very chic element to your outfit and are perfect for winter as well.
6. Blazers or cardigans. It's not too hot, not too cold- wearing relaxed cardigans + light cotton tees or a blouse + blazer will help keep you the perfect temperature. Plus, both pieces can be worn year-round so they're not a season-by-season investment either.

I snapped a few, quick outfit selfies this week and posted them below. Hope it gives you some style inspo for those in-between season transitions!

cardigan: Target | tee + necklaces: Forever21

Jean Vest + necklace: Forever21 | Grey tee: H&M | Aztec Print Jeans: American Eagle | Watch: Michael Kors

Anorak jacket: Shop Civilized | Striped tee + faux leather leggings: H&M

All of these looks are easy transition outfits from summer to fall. As a college student, comfort yet fashionable is a reoccurring theme, haha. Each outfit has a simple tee paired with simple faux leather leggings/skinny jeans with various outerwear pieces to keep warm during the cooler mornings. The cardigan and anorak jacket were worn on cooler, rainy days (above) and I never really needed to take them off- however the chambray outfit (below) was worn on a warmer day. If the weather where you live is as bipolar as mine, its always nice to have something to easily tie around your waist and look just as fashionable. This is key to dressing during this warm-cool transition, easily removable pieces that look great on/off. Also, don't forget your jewelry! Pairing any outfit with statement necklaces and arm candy are the easiest way to spice up any outfit.
