Fit & Pretty in Pink

Friday, May 20, 2016
happy friday everyone! Today we are teaming up with Glossier to show you guys how we like to celebrate pink! Glossier is a modern beauty brand working to create essential products. They're mantra is "skin first, makeup second, smile always." (how cute?! #wordstoliveby). Pantone's color of the year is so similar to Glossier's pink, they decided to create a Pinterest board with chic inspo on how to incorporate pink into their everyday routine. Nilma will be showing you her fitness outfits and I will be showing you guys an outfit I wore to a friend's graduation recently that incorporated my favorite tone of pink!

Not going to lie, I used to hate pink as a little girl but now I don't mind it (as long as its not too vibrant) because a blush/nude pink is my absolute favorite staple. It can be worn with almost anything and look effortlessly chic.

I love my Michael Kors Slim Rose Gold watch. It's not bulky & remains the perfect accessory to almost all of my outfits.

These blush toned crops were found at H&M awhile ago but keep a lookout because they always bring back some of their popular styles with a slight change. These are perfect for the workplace and whenever you want to switch things up from denim jeans.

To be honest, I had no idea what to wear to graduation and picked out my crops first and found this cheetah printed blouse hanging out in the back of my closest and realized how well they flow together haha. I used my H&M Slim Tuxedo Blazer and strappy black stilettos to tie in all the colors and color blocking to perfection.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For me, the color pink has always been (one) of my favorites so when #Glossier reached out to us about a collaboration for their pink campaign, I was all game in my pink gear.
Funny story: One of my favorite 4th grade teacher's (Patti Russel-who was a major fashionista teacher-by the way) & her favorite color was pink so naturally, I think I adopted that as my favorite color, ha. Now as an adult, I honestly love all colors. I love soft colors for classy and sophisticated looks and bright colors most definitely for my workout gear. I strongly believe that what you wear to a workout really helps you have a better (or worst) workout. When I wear bright colors to workout in, I often feel more energized.

Now, I don't like to look like a Popsicle at the gym, so it is important to contrast your bright pieces with a darker shade. Here I am rocking a 90 degree bright pink racer back tank with one of my favorite pair of  Sweaty Endeavor LuLuLemon tights. What I love about these tights is the drawcord in the hem of each leg which allows me to choose the length. My bright pink shoes were an addition to my love for all things pink collection when I had found them at a Nike outlet store a while back. I don't think you can find this exact style anymore (Nike Free 5.0) but check out Nike's website for a huge selection of Nike Free & Nike Flyknit shoes in a similar pink shade.
pink Yoga Mat: Nike +T.J.Maxx

Hope you guys enjoyed this little collab! Be sure to check out Glossier's Pinterest page (you might see some familiar faces on there soon). Tune in next week for a fitness post to help kick off Summer Sixteen!

#FashionFriday: Denim Lovin'

Friday, May 13, 2016
Happy Friday everyone! I hope you all have been enjoying your summer break so far and a huge congratulations to everyone that is/has already graduated these past few weeks!

This weeks #FashionFriday is all about denim! I got this denim chambray from Express about a year ago and I am obsessed.

Shoutout to Sarah for these shots, I linked her website that just launched so be sure to check it out!

I am a huge fan of layering and wearing comfy clothes, no matter what season it is. When deciding what to wear, I always start with the shoes I want to wear. So for a casual vibe, I started with my fave all-white converse sneaks and worked my way up to the black jeans from H&M and printed top from Forever 21. I simply threw the slightly oversized denim chambray overtop, folding the cuffs and my outfit went from simple to fab pretty quick. I would suggest doing a printed tee underneath rather than a solid basic one because it will bring out all the colors in the outfit beautifully.

As far as my makeup, I like choosing contrasting lip colors, in this particular outfit I paired Mood from Dose of Colors to add even more edge to this outfit.

For accessories I kept it simple with my gold Michael Kors watch and paired a simple side body bag from Antonio Milani.

p.s: how cute is this red wall complimenting the red triangles on my shirt?!

Catch you guys in two weeks for another #FashionFriday! From now on, we are going to do 2 fashion friday posts a month and 2 fitness-related posts (alternating them). There will be more beauty reviews and tutorials coming soon!

Can't wait to see what next week's fitness post is going to be? Follow our socials to maybe get a sneak peak on the topic ;)

#FashionFriday: Edgy Chic

Statement floral heels, Steve Madden
HELLO SUMMER SIXTEEN! (whaddup Drake reference). I am DONE with finals (aka: hell week) and I could not be happier. I hope to give you guys awesome, creative content all summer long since I will have way more free time :) Today I'm going to show you guys a really edgy yet chic look with my Armani biker jacket and fave Steve Madden floral pumps. Floral print is in everywhere this season so a similar shoe shouldn't be too difficult to snag. In fact, I got mine from a local TJ Maxx for $35, so be sure to check out those stores before heading to the mall. This look is comfy and perfect for a casual day out. (you guys know I live for looks that are comfy but look like I tried haha).

All my photos for this shoot were taken by the talented Sara Derek from World Vision Photography! I linked their socials so be sure to check them out!

Many of us love to rock the all black everything vibe but I love adding pops of color throughout my outfit to help spice it up. This small handbag is from Aldo and it's the perfect size for your phone, wallet, keys and touch up lipstick. How cute are the gold medal bar red studs in the front?!
This is a sweater I got from a Gap store about 2 years ago and if you follow the care directions, it will still look as good as new! My biker jacket is from Armani Exchange and I am in love! It is so edgy and makes you feel like a total baddie. The necklace can be found at any Icing store (I got mine around December but I'm sure they will have a similar style).

Any of these items can be replaced with what you have lying around! Grab your old leather jacket (because these made a comeback), a light swear and statement necklace and you're golden!

Mango juice ft. me at Chrome Yellow Trading Co.
My favorite watch from Michael Kors benefiting the Stop World Hunger Campaign!
Money for a good cause that looks good on my wrist? Yes please! #Hairflip

What would you guys like to read next?! Any certain look you want me to style? Maybe a makeup tutorial? Comment below!
p.s: I have more fashion posts coming so check back every #FashionFriday in May!

Putting the Chic in Chicago

Sunday, April 3, 2016
Happy Sunday babies! Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend so far (don't let these April showers get you down!) So if you follow me on my social media and caught the last blog post (here), you know I just took a quick vacay to the windy city of Chicago. I had only visited this city once before as a kid but going back as an adult was obviously an experience, especially with my two best friends (aka: my siblings).

I took my Canon T3i and Sony A5100 with me so of course I'm about to hit you guys with some slay ootd's I wore and fill my babies in on all the deets! Since I had two amazing cameras with me I vlogged for the first time (ahhh). I love making movies in iMovie so this was a blast for me to film and edit. In fact, this vlog was done and ready to upload last Monday night, less than 24 hours after I got back BUT my computer was giving me hell for it, hence the delay.

Watch my travel vlog here! (hint: grab a snack/meal!)

Hotel: We were there for four nights and stayed at the Renaissance Hotel in the heart of Chicago. This hotel was everything and then some-- the decor, hospitality and at home vibe we got from the staff and other guests truly made for a wonderful experience. Plus the Iowa State basketball team stayed their during their March Madness game so our lobby was always a fun spot to hang out. We were within walking distance to the majority of all tourist attractions and just as close to the shops and food (the most important lol). Part two of this mini-series will talk about the attractions we saw and the food I have been posting (I'm craving it already and it hasn't even been a week since I've been back #foodie). Anytime I find myself back in this gorgeous city, I already know where I' m staying (each and every time) and no this is not sponsored LOL ;).

The diva that I am wrote a how-to: travel in style blog post that was also space efficient but ya girl didn't know which season to pack for so I didn't even get to wear more than 1/2 my suitcase (#fail). As soon as we landed it was raining and freezing which made sense because by lunchtime it was hailing/snowing. I wish I wasn't too busy stuffing my face because even though I dislike cold weather (being born/raised in hotlanta and all) that snowfall was absolutely beautiful-- I wish I could've captured it for you guys. The rest of the days were in the upper forties/low fifties which would've been bearable but the winds were something I was not used to at all. I do not know how the locals deal with that intense wind on the daily, I came back craving a haircut from all my tangles. My phone was acting up while I was there so I barely was able to use it but whenever I got a chance to Snapchat complain about the wind, man did my friends give me hell for it. Lol, and yes I know I was visiting the windy city but I assumed since it was full on Spring ft. pollen down here it would've been slightly warmer (false). Regardless, Chicago has stolen my heart because the city vibes & the food was perfect.

DAY ONE (airport):

As I mentioned in my travel in style post, a comfy outfit for the airport is a must especially if you have a super early flight and want to catch up on some zzz's en route to your vacay. Since our hotel wasn't ready for us when we landed, we headed straight to the shops and even though I packed enough to change into a more casual outfit rather it was cold so I decided to stick to my sweats for the first day. Which is shocking considering I never ever wear sweats publicly like that unless I'm on a plane or doing a late run to Target lol. It's even funnier that I can't even find a photo of me wearing this outfit because when I'm in sweats-- it is straight chill mode. However on the flight back to ATL I wore the same outfit and traded my grey sweats to some comfy black H&M jeans that were a steal at $7. YUP. SEVEN. But tragically, these were the only pair (booo).

details:
(1) Heather grey sweats from H&M (here), the best sweats ever! So presentable + comfortable.
(2) My simple Ralph Lauren grey tee was stolen from my brother's closet (tysm) (similar here)
(3) My favorite teal jacket is also H&M (surprise surprise). I believe these are a year-round staple item for them because whenever I'm shopping there I always see these hanging around.

DAY ONE (evening):
After a long day of travel and shopping, we decided to eat at a restaurant right next door called Catch 35 (will review this place in part two of the series). Even though we were literally walking 100 feet to dinner, I was dressed in sweats all day and brought a suitcase full of clothes to dress up in so I did my makeup and threw on a warm outfit.

details:
(1) I wore my H&M black jeans (similar here)
(2) My all-time fave tan sweater from Gap-- last season
(3) Brown leather jacket (old but any leather jacket will suffice!)
(4) Necklace (old + I don't remember where it's from
(5) Shoedazzle blush strapped heels (style: CLARISSA)

DAY TWO (daytime):

We visited Cloud Gate where the infamous "Bean" is located. Seriously such an amazing piece of art. Afterwards we went to try some amazing pizza that I will rave about in my next travel post!

details:
(1) I wore my H&M black jeans-- recent (similar here)
(2) A black/white H&M striped blouse--recent
(3) Red trench coat from Banana Republic-- last season (any trench coat will suffice!)
(4) White Converse All-Stars (here)

DAY THREE (daytime):

We roamed the city and visited Willis Tower (Skyledge, also formerly known as Sears Tower). Since we walked everywhere I wanted to be comfy and stuck to a basic all black outfit with a bold necklace and warm leather jacket!

details:
(1) I wore my H&M black jeans (similar here)
(2) Simple H&M black tee
(3) Brown leather jacket (so old but any leather jacket will suffice!)
(4) Necklace-- Black Friday (Icing)
(5) Black flats (Steve Madden)

DAY FOUR (daytime):
This day was mostly a traveling day besides breakfast so I re-wore my airport outfit. Details are under Day One :)

Part-two of my Chicago series is next! I will be reviewing all the food places we ate at and the tourist spots that stole my heart!

1 Outfit:2 Ways-NYC Edition

A Day in NYC-1 Outfit:2 Ways

Whenever I go to New York City for a full day, I often struggle to figure out WHAT TO WEAR! Recently when my SIL was visiting, we went to the city for the day to meet up with my brother. The weather was actually pretty perfect but in the evening, it became slightly windy. I wanted to wear something comfortable, causal and stylish (of course!) ;-)

I grabbed my favorite pair of leggings + favorite pair of brown booties. When walking around the city the entire day, you never want to wear super high heels and uncomfortable shoes (In my opinion at least)! These booties from Forever21 were ACTUALLY oh so comfy all day! Ha!...& I threw on this H&M lacy and flirty loose fitted top to give the outfit some chicness. I decided to grab my faux leather sleeve blazer (also H&M) to wear in the evening as it automatically added a sophisticated look to the outfit. During the day, I wore another H&M piece, a long cardigan...which kept me warm & it was super comfy & bohemian!

Adding bright colored lips with the blazer look added to the evening look.

Cozy in Chambray

Friday, February 26, 2016

I swear, the weather in the East Coast has been on the edge of "bipolarism". LOL. But today I was not complaining because it was in the 50's! Nice weather + Sunday called for a cozy brunch down the street with my husband and friends. Lately I haven't been buying a lot casual or fancy clothes due to the fact that all I ever spend money on these days are: gym clothes, airplane tickets, and groceries. Lol.

No new clothes = find your fav pieces in your closet and make it work! When I have no idea what to wear, one thing that I often grab is my jean jacket or chambray shirts. The fun thing about chambray is that you can style it in SO many ways that if you wore it every single day for the entire week, but styled it differently, I bet no one would even know it was on repeat the whole week haha.

Though it was in the 50s, the sun wasn't out so I knew I had to dress cool yet slightly warm too. I decided to be casual with a hint of feminine. I paired my shirt with a loose fitted skinny belt and some light faux stretch leggings. Since my mind-set is still in winter mode, I wore some ankle boots. I threw on my favorite jcrew necklace to give the outfit some life. All outfit details and links are down below! Share what looks you create with your Chambray and tag us on Instagram #thelipstickpantry

Fashion Friday: Street Style

Friday, February 27, 2015

it's fridayyyy! not only is it the weekend, but the countdown to spring break has begun! my weekend actually started on Wednesday since all my tests this week got pushed to next week, so i've been on a Grey's Anatomy Netflix binge for the past few days, haha.
(sidetone: if you have never seen that show- you need to go start watching it. i've watched it since it first aired in 2006 & i am always down for a rerun because it's so good. Add Scandal and How To Get Away With Murder to a list of shows to watch as well since we're talking television).

So, my iPhone storage is almost full (#annoyed) and I was on a huge deleting spree this morning when I came across these photos my friend took when she got the iPhone 6+ back in October. I checked the blog and was surprised I had never blogged about street style before.

Don't get me wrong, as much as I love a laid back look, I love dressing super girly. I also have a problem with wearing all black (more often than I should) but I added this denim chambray with flower detailing over it and paired it with two necklaces to glam it up a bit. To top the look off, I added my favorite pair of combat boots. The boots and the edgy necklaces give this look a feminine twist on the street style trend. This is easily my favorite go-to looks to wear whenever I'm rushed and yet want to look like I tried, but still be comfortable. (if you've seen all of my #FashionFriday posts, this is a trend for me, because dressing comfy is what it's all about lol).

details:
-the triple layer chained necklace: H&M (duh)
-leaf necklace: forever21
-flower detailed chambray: love culture
-black tee: banana republic
-black jeans: american eagle
-combat boots: shoedazzle

(shoedazzle insight: when you first sign up for membership, if you make a purchase within an allotted time you get 70% off your first pair; just remember to skip every month if you don't plan on purchasing or they will charge you a membership fee)

hope you guys have been loving the #fashionfriday series, comment below if you have any ideas/looks you would like to see next! have a great weekend, xo

Fashion Friday: Weekly Lookbook

Friday, February 20, 2015
happy friday! I was scrolling through instagram and texting my blog partner-in-crime (Nilma), tossing ideas back and forth for the site. She made a great point- even though I may not always blog my fashion posts as often as I'd like to, I do upload #ootd (outfit of the day) photos almost daily on the gram. So why not collect this weeks photos and give you guys some inspo? It's been record breaking COLD in the south, just yesterday we had a -5 windchill (ouch!); so the first weekly lookbook on #thelipstickpantry is going to be winter edition

Lookbook #1: Long coats + Infinity scarves
When its cold outside, theres nothing easier than throwing on a hoodie but I promise you this outfit is way warmer. I grabbed my fave combat boots as of late from ShoeDazzle and paired it with a beige infinity scarf. the long coat, from F21, is perfect for the winter. All i did was add a long sleeve black tee underneath with a pair of jeans and it looks like I tried (lol) but seriously, a chic outfit that also keeps you warm
(yes please)

Lookbook #2: Anorak Jackets + Cardigans
This outfit is perfect for school, the movies, or even a shopping trip. I paired a cream cardigan and epic weekend tank I got from target with a black infinity scarf and black jeans. I added brown boots to keep me warm and my green anorak jacket i'm still (& probably will always) be obsessed with- it's just so versatile).

Lookbook #3: Plaid Flannels + Combat Boots:
I wore this on a day where it was probably 40ish degrees, it's not exactly a winter weather outfit but it is pretty warm for those in between days when you don't want to carry around a jacket. I love, love, love flannels. They are the perfect comfort item that adds an edge to a pretty simple outfit. I usually wear them with the buttons open and a graphic tee inside and tie it around my waist when it gets too warm.

Quick Tip: The men's section have the perfect sized flannels if you prefer them to be a little oversized. I got this one from H&M mens in xs. The "rebel" tee is Forever21

whats your favorite winter outfit that keeps you warm?
